5 out of 5 stars love, love, love it!   February 20, 2010

You'd think they would run out of stuff to write about but every issue is packed full of great, informative, fun information. If you're a dog lover- get it!

5 out of 5 stars dog lover   August 24, 2009

Bark offers an alternative to the usual. The topics vary from educational to just plain fun, warm and enjoyable. It is for the reader who wants to know what is the latest in the dog world, be it health, training, travel, etc. And, it its for people who enjoy reading essays about all aspects of having a dog as a companion from the joy, to the humorous to the sad. I read my first BARK at the home of my friend and ordered a subscription for myself and two other friends. I have difficulty recycling past magazines, but finally do so by passing them along to someone I meet or know that shows a genuine caring and joy in the life of a dog and the dog-person relationship. Get it! Read an article at a time if life is too busy, but you probably will want to read the whole magazine at once, so be careful... It is addictive!

4 out of 5 stars Awesome magazine about holistic dog care   July 26, 2009
Boston Book Addict (Boston, Mass.)
I picked up this magazine in a grocery store and was instantly a fan. As a recent dog owner it was full of articles that helped me think about how I cared for my dog. What I appreciated about it was that it wasn't a simple how to kind of magazine. It was full of articles that really looked at dog care holistically, including approaching it from a more academic or scholarly angle. I loved that they covered topics like behavior, health and aging in a way that showed that they had consulted a lot of research and didn't feel like they needed to dumb it down for their readers, but could still make it approachable. I felt like I learned a lot and wanted to keep reading more. Even when the articles were not relevant to where my dog was at with his current life stage (the issue I picked up had a lot on senior dogs) it was still very interesting and made me think.

Overall it's a great magazine and one I think will resonate with educated pet owners who love their dogs and are interested in learning the latest about training, health and just living a great life with their dog.

5 out of 5 stars a big hit!   June 27, 2009
nic (los angeles, CA)
I am a recent subscriber, and I must say this is a wonderful magazine! I also subscribe to Whole Dog Journal, and while it's great for learning about the latest and greatest in caring for your dog, it's very thin on living with a dog, and how pets impact our everyday lives. This magazines covers the latter in spades, and I love it for that. The articles are always interesting, and I find myself reading it from cover to cover. In that same vein I always pass it around to my 80yo+ grandfather, and elementary school aged siblings, and they all also love it and read it cover to cover. Though the magazine only comes out 6 times a year their website it constantly updates, and very interesting to read.

5 out of 5 stars The Bark rules!   April 27, 2009
dog freak (seattle, wa)
For true dog lovers, and people who appreciate great writing and art, clever graphics and layout, and a positive approach to dog culture in all it's aspects. I've been a reader since it's inception, and have been more than pleased with the excellent writing and art, the national list of things going on, the very informative articles and reviews, and an extremely POSITIVE approach to dogs. No punishment based training or behavior modification is discussed here. Dogs come first and are celebrated in a really cool way in this magazine. Also happy that now it is published more than four times a year (like it was when it first started). Please do yourself and your dog a favor and check out this mag. If you think dogs are basically slaves to be treated as such and not considered for their emotions (yes dogs have them, it's been proven) or physical well being then you will not like it; However if you are a DOG LOVER you will be into it, certainly!
