5 out of 5 stars Best Deal on Subscription   December 8, 2009

I was given this 2 year subscription for a birthday present. A large pet retailer wants $7.00 per issue even though the retail price, which is lower, is clearly marked on the magazine. This was the best deal anywhere.

Fish keeping is a hobby I've been doing for around 10 years, on and off, mostly cichlids or community type fish. The magazine discusses both salt and fresh water and has spotlights on one or two species each month. It also has some interesting articles on research. The current February edition has an article on scientific deep sea specimens.

Like all magazines, I recommend picking up an edition to see if it is something that interests you. In my opinion, it has something for both beginners and more experienced hobbyists. That being said, I look forward to receiving 2 years for a one year subscription price.

We have an 175 gallon salt water tank and I found the majority of the articles in this magazine were more geared toward smaller and freshwater tanks.

5 out of 5 stars Fresh water and marine Aquarium Magazine fom Amazone   October 21, 2009

This is a great magazine for anyone interested in keeping an aquarium. I have kept aquaruims for about 30 years and recently wanted to try a live planted tank in a newly purchased 75 gallon aquarium. The first two issues arrived and where loaded with info. on planted aquaruims.

2 out of 5 stars Coverage is too broad   December 3, 2008

If your interest is in fresh or saltwater (one not both) at least 1/2 of this magazine will be of no interest to you. On the other hand, if you have interest in both fresh and saltwater -- this mag is a great value.
