4 out of 5 stars Dog Fancy   August 3, 2010
jane (Fort Worth, TX)
I enjoy reading Dog Fancy as the articles are short and of interest to everyday pet owners. I also love the pictures and targeted breeds that are featured each month.

1 out of 5 stars Training Your Puppy Booklet   May 12, 2010
Jay Hearst (Boulder, CO USA)
I can't comment on the magazine itself, as I have never read it, but they publish a booklet called "Train Your Puppy", which they sell for $10.99 and which is the biggest rip-off I have encountered lately.

We have had dogs since 1960, and the time and effort we have put into training has varied, depending on the dog. We recently got an 11 week old Cavashon puppy (Cavallier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon), who is badly in need of training. She's a sweet dog, but was given to a shelter because she's too wild. We can deal with this.

My wife bought the magazine, which promised on the cover: SIT, LIE DOWN, STAY, COME, etc, etc. The article concerning taining had NOT ONE WORD about the above subjects. After encouraging the reader to find a class, it gave (paid?) directions for several self-described trainers associations.

Obviously the publication was filled with ads for various must-have products. DO NOT buy this!! If the magzine isself follows this format, don't buy it, either.
